With the temperature increasing and the humidity raising at race time, the field of competitors for the 1st Annual STXC at Mont Du Lac set to do battle. In a race that lasted 20 minutes plus two laps, spectators were treated to some of the most exciting racing this season in Minnesota. With a "relaxed" atmosphere and 100% payback, the race got underway promptly at 3pm.

Justin Rinehart set the early pace and strung the field out quickly. Rinehart quickly turned out some fast laps on the course which sent the racers anaerobic right away. It wasn't so much the course, but the blazing pace Rinehart set. After the first few laps, the race was broken apart with four men looking like they could vie for the win. Along with Rinehart was Jay "Hollywood" Henderson, Jeff Hall and Brian Eppen.
Shortly after the race was strung out, Jeff Hall said enough was enough and put the hammer down. Jeff blasted off the front and in a half of lap opened a very large margin. Jeff kept the hammer down for the rest of the race and lapped all but three other competitors to take the win. Rinehart and Hollywood were in a neck and neck battle until the final lap when it came down to a sprint finish for second. Oh yeah, did I mention that Hollywood was riding his single speed? Its not everyday that there is a world champ in the field. (Hollywood is the single speed champ this year!) But Rinehart proved that he had a little more at the end than Hollywood did and outsprinted him to the line for second. Despite his best efforts to block Rinehart from making the pass, Hollywood had one hell of a race on his OFS and brought home third. Brian Eppen rode a strong race throughout and despite his best efforts late in the race to catch up to 2nd and 3rd, he was just unable to close the gap. But Eppen rode to a strong 4th place finish
